In 2018, GripTape launched its first place-based Learning Challenge in rural Colorado. We wanted to learn, in a focused way, how effectively our model serves those who live in rural communities. We were curious how differences in access to resources and proximity to other communities might lead to differences in interest or impact compared to youth from more urban settings.
In this report we share what we learned and what it meant for how we did (or didn’t) adapt our model to meet the needs of teenagers who are growing up in rural communities.
